Turquoise Nail polish

After purchasing nude nail polish from forever 21 a few weeks ago, I decided to get two more shades because I was really impressed with the quality. I purchased nail polish in the shade blue, but it looks like more of a dark turquoise in the container and when it's on. I really like the color because it's not too light or too dark, it's the perfect shade. I also LOVE that it doesn't chip off after a few days!

SN: I purchased another one in a metallic sliver shade however It's missing :-(.. I'm pretty sure I'm going to end up finding it my dog's toy box :-s

How to stop your nails from breaking

Today as I logged onto facebook, the first thing I saw was a status about how annoying it is to try to grow your nails out for weeks, only to have them break off after a certain point. I thought to myself "yeah, that's pretty annoying" and I'm guessing the other 15 women that liked the status felt the same way. I decided to do some research to find out how to stop this problem. So far this is what I came up with........

1. Do not bite, peel off old nail polish, or pick at your nails. This causes them to be weak and brittle.
2. Wear gloves when using household cleaning products. Cleaning products contain harsh chemicals that can damage your nails.
3. Do not use nail polish remover more than once a week. Make sure the remover you are using is acetone-free because acetone dries out your nails causing them to become brittle and break off.
4. Use a moisturizing lotion after washing your hands. This strengthens your nails.
5. Always use a nail strengthener or clear nail polish, it helps seal your nails stopping it from breaking
6. Lastly, maintain a healthy diet (you can also take vitamin A and B6 supplements to speed up nail growth)

I hope this helps.. if not.. there's always acrylics but I'm not a big fan of them.

Nude Nail polish

Recently I went to forever21 and purchased a nail polish by Love & Beauty. I was kind of skeptical about it because the color says light pink but it definitely looks nude. Also I never heard of the brand and I wasn't sure if it would end up chipping off after 2hrs of wear. Anyway, I tried it and I really can't complain! For $2.80 I would get more colors. So if your looking for a really cheap but really good nail polish, you should go get this color!

Get Sparked!!

My last post made me want to do a review on my Wet n Wild nail polish! lol...I really love Wet n Wild Sparked, the glitter is not too chunky or too fine its perfect! Also I like the pink color, I think a lot of glittery nail polish (especially pink ones) look a bit childish..but this one is more of a mauvey pinky color which makes it look chic. All you need is two light coats of nail polish...it dries quickly... and goes on smooth!

Polka Dot Galore: Nail Art

Spring is here so patterns and bright colors are in... Why not apply the same Spring/ Summer color and pattern trends to your nails???

Step 1. Paint your nails any color you want.
Step 2. Allow your nail polish to dry completely (Add a second coat of polish if needed)
Step 3. Use a toothpick or a tiny brush to make evenly spaced little Polka dots (make sure you do not get too much nail polish on the brush).

Custom Colors: Mixing Nail polish

Doesn't it make you mad when you see a shade of nail polish that you want... but you never find it in the store..or if you do find it..it is always a shade darker or lighter... Well, I have a solution for you... mix your own nail polish!!! Its really easy..but I suggest you buy cheap nail polish such as NYC or Wet and Wild...that way if you create a super yucky funky color you can always throw it away.

Materials
Nail polish (preferably Wet and Wild or NYC)
Old Nail polish (you don't wear anymore or ones that are starting to dry up)

Step 1. Choose colors that compliment each other. Example Black + White=Gray, Red+ Blue= Purple, Dark Red + Light Red= Med Red, Green+Blue+Yellow= Turquoise. DONT BE AFRAID TO EXPERIMENT...Believe me someone out there will like the color.

Step 2. Make sure the nail polish bottles are about 1/2 way full to allow mixing. If not you will have to buy empty nail polish bottles or pour some color out.

Step 3. Use the lighter color as the base Example: If I'm making gray, white will be used as the base.

Step 4. Pour a few drops of the darker color into the base.

Step 5. Shake the nail posh bottle....until the color is completely mixed.

Step 6. Keep adding more drops of the darker color to the base until you get the desired color!

=)

Tip: Keep nail polish in the refrigerator to keep it from drying out.
